Overview

Penningtons Manches Cooper are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive HR Administrator Apprentice to join our HR Business Support Team. Reporting into the divisional HR Advisor, and working alongside the teams HR Administrators you will be responsible for the provision of a proactive and professional HR administration service covering the full employee lifecycle and annual processes. You will also work with the wider HR Team to support with the delivery of annual and ad-hoc projects.  This is an entry level role where you will learn how HR supports an organisation and its culture, while developing a deep understanding of how your role supports colleagues and business goals.

 

The firm operates a hybrid agile working policy allowing employees to work from home (or another UK location) for up to 50% of their time. Individuals can also apply for other flexible working options either at the time of recruitment or during the course of their employment. Occasional travel between UK offices will be required for this role.

 

Apprentices will be working towards an accredited qualification CIPD level 3 through an HR Support Apprenticeship with our preferred supplier.  We will provide a combination of structured training, hands on learning and mentoring to enable progression within the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the HR Business Support Team, consisting of the HR Business Partners and HR Advisors.
  • HR administration activity includes: producing documentation, timely records filing, accurate updating of HR systems, arranging meetings, appropriate liaison with internal and external stakeholders and communication with team managers.
  • Day-to-day administration processes include: new starter, onboarding, induction, leaver processes, employee payroll, family leave policies, probation reviews, sickness absence, exit interviews and contractual changes.
  • HR Business Support cyclical activity includes: salary/bonus review, promotions, trainee seat changes, quarterly reviews, new solicitor qualifications and holiday years.
  • Monitor and respond to queries in the central HR mailbox, ensuring efficient resolution or referral.
  • Support with the Team’s regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements and processing of purchase orders and invoice reconciliation.
  • Support to other Administrators within the HR Team during peak periods of activity, and any other ad-hoc activity that may arise within the team.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

  • A minimum of 3 A levels grade C or above, coupled with good GCSEs grade C or above to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications)
  • An understanding of, or keen desire to learn, end-to-end HR Administration and best practice.
  • Highly organised and enjoys a high-paced and dynamic working environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and have a strong team orientation.
  • Professional approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a changing workload, whilst maintaining high attention to detail at all times.
  • Ability to act on own initiative, to work and investigate queries independently.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of HR databases(desirable), Outlook, Excel and Word.
