Overview

The Assistant Head Cashier (AHC) will work closely with the Head Cashier on the day-to-day management of the Client and Office teams, covering the Head Cashier, Client and Office Team managers during absences, as well as reporting and project work.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Head Cashier in the day-to-day management of the cashiering function
  • Working on project work including the transition from Elite Enterprise to Aderant Expert
  • Providing cover to the Head Cashier and Cashier Team Managers during times of leave/absence
  • Processing Client and Office account transaction on the finance system and banking systems
  • Undertake daily banking functions including daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with the Annual SRA Audit
  • Updating cashiering processes and procedures, while educating fee earners on any changes
  • Preparing financial reports monthly
  • Assisting with regular appraisals and development of team members
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
  • Utilising previous skills and knowledge to look at ways to streamline processes
  • Recording and remedying of breaches which have been discovered
  • Attending Team and Department meetings and making recommendations
  • Undertake any specific training when required
  • Running of monthly interest calculations

Essential & Desirable Criteria

  • IT Literate
  • Aderant Expert experience
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Outlook and MS Office
  • Strong Cashiering background (over 5 years’ experience in a busy law firm)
  • Experience of assisting with annual SRA audit
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
  • Self-motivated and able to organise their own workload
  • Works well under pressure
  • High level of detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills
  • Confident in dealing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
